In April, we had a fantastic celebration for our family. Our whole family gathered at the convent to celebrate my great Aunt Lena's 110th birthday. We had a private mass for friends and family, followed by a luncheon in her honor. She is now the oldest religious sister in the country, at 110 years old, and the second oldest in the world! She has been in the convent since she was 17 and has dedicated her life to helping others. She also taught mathematics at a College for over 50 years. She is an amazing woman; we are so lucky to have her in our life. The media came to this momentous event, and in Great Aunt Lee's true wittiness, she said, "I'd like to be the youngest," before adding, "But the years are there, so I'll have to accept them."
Great Aunt Lee was one of the first people we told that we hoped to adopt. She has been praying for us every day. Adoption has always been part of Great Aunt Lee's life; two of her sisters adopted to grow their families. We can't wait to introduce her to our future child.
Are you considering adoption?
We would love to hear from you, don't worry; we will be nervous too.
