We had a very special celebration in my family this week. My great Aunt turned 109 years old, we went to her house with some family members to celebrate her birthday. She is living such an amazing life.
She joined the convent when she was a teenager and became a nun. She became a math teacher in her 20s. She taught math in a high school and then statistics at a college until she retired when she was 84-year-old.
It just amazes us how much she has seen in her life. Aunt Lee was born in 1913 and when I think back on all the technological advances and major world events I am in awe of her life. Television came out years (1927) after she was born, and not the flat screens that you see today. She has seen black and white TV turn to color TV, computers, cell phones, and the internet all be invented in her lifetime.
She enjoys life going to dinner and getting her hair done. She loves seeing her family and especially loves praying for all her family members. She has been praying that we make a match and meet our future child soon because she can’t wait to meet him/her.
We can’t wait to celebrate her 110th birthday next year.
